AUDITIONS: DNA
Icarus Theatre is seeking eleven actors aged 18-24 to play parts in DNA by Dennis Kelly at the Theatre Centre’s BMO Incubator Space this November.

--About the Company/Show--

The Company: Icarus Theatre was established in April 2022 by young artists hungry to make well crafted theatre. Since then, we have become one of the leading voices in Toronto's independent theatre scene by producing critically acclaimed plays, and creating one of Toronto's most exciting regular theatre events: the Dark Day Cabaret Series. This production of DNA is the second in our first three-show season, following our smash hit production of Oleanna by David Mamet.

Show Description: Adam is dead, and it’s everyone’s fault. So what now? On the brink of their highschool graduation, ten teenagers fear the consequences of their actions and the weight of social responsibility. The good news? Phil has a plan, but he needs everyone’s help. Presented in Toronto for the first time, DNA viscerates the primality of youth, studies the trials of the soul and the strain on the mind when faced with the unimaginable.

Character Description: Seeking eleven actors aged 18-24 to play teenaged parts (Grades 11-12). We are casting an ensemble which represents Toronto’s many diverse communities and highly encourage artists of all backgrounds to submit for this call. Please note names and genders for characters in DNA are suggestions only and can be changed to suit the performers.

Rehearsal Process: Rehearsals will be part-time through October 2025, three days a week. Two days will be shorter evening rehearsals during weekdays, and one day will be a full-day rehearsal on the weekend. We will do our utmost to accommodate outside working schedules. DNA will play for 10 performances Nov 6-15 2025, with the option to extend one performance (November 16) pending demand. The show will be directed by Erik Richards.

Pay: Actors will receive an honorarium of $500 for their work. Please note this call is only open to NON-UNION actors. (ACTRA Apprentices are ok to submit!)
